I’ve seen requests for Smartsheet project plans to be able to have the feature to notify the owner of a task when the predecessors are completed. I have set this up before in Smartsheet, and expanded the solution to also indicate which predecessor or successor tasks are keeping a given task from starting. As you will see in the video below I showcase a Smartsheet solution which indicates when a task is ready to start based on the status of predecessors as well as successors of a predecessor that are setup as Start-to-Finish.

One use case for this solution is to notify the person in the assigned to column when their task is ready to start.  It also provides an easier way to see which other tasks are keeping another task from starting.

This type of implementation would normally be rather time consuming.  However, since I have already done the work, I can implement this solution in your own project plans for a fraction of the time it would take to develop it form the group up.  This solution can also be customized as needed.
